About The Astonishing Adventures of Kitty and Peg

This event goes on sale to Friends & Patrons of The Theatre on Tuesday 27th August 12pm, and on General sale on Tuesday 3rd September at 12pm.

Step back in time with The Astonishing Adventures of Kitty and Peg, a rollicking two-hander set backstage at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane in 1745.

This hilarious period farce brings to life the real stars of the era: English sensation Kitty Clive, famed for her powerful voice and being the first to sing "Rule Britannia," and Irish firecracker Peg Woffington, known for her daring male roles and alluring legs. When these iconic actresses are abruptly dismissed, they must rely on more than just their talents to remain in the public eye. Their desperate antics include spreading fake news, staging a dramatic brawl, and unintentionally poisoning the famous cross-dressing puppeteer-turned-butcher, Charlotte "Mr Brown" Charke.

Will Kitty and Peg reclaim their jobs, face the gallows, or will the public's fascination with True Crime secure their fame? Don’t miss this fast-paced, irreverent, and cheeky romp filled with mischief and mayhem – and yes, there’s women wrestling!
