Emma Bradford Retrospective Exhibition

About the Exhibition

EMMA BRADFORD
3/10/1954-19/11/2023

Emma’s vibrant and colourful art reflected her personality. Although she had an exhibition of etchings around 1980, her career was in book publishing, until she took up painting full time in 2005.

Her art practice included acrylic on canvas and paper, acrylic inks, oil pastels, dry pasters, watercolour, drawings and prints, mainly drypoints, linocuts and monoprints. Some of her late works can only be described as “mixed media”, consisting of oil pastels melted into beeswax, sometimes with a monoprint collaged on top, and then of gold leaf, or even old-fashioned potato cuts. An example of this is her last major work “The Nebra Sky Disc” (in this exhibition but not for sale)
