The town and The Theatre get a great spread of publicity, along with fantastic photographs of local landmarks, in a well researched article by Mark Child for Oxfordshire Life magazine this month. The article is extensive, and well worth a read, but here are a couple of teasers that we are particularly proud of:

"Chipping Norton does not have a Frank Matcham theatre or the kind of C.J.Phipps that can be seen at The Theatre Royal, Bath, but it has something that in essence goes beyond them, and which certainly drives itself deep into my psyche. The Theatre at Chipping Norton has the feel of a Georgian circuit theatre survival. It is not, of course, because it was built much later, and for religious gatherings. But the place was put together by 19th century designers of the Victorian music halls whose blueprints were the Georgian theatres."

I don’t know about you, but one of the things that spoils an evening for me is overly-aggressive stand-up comedians. I find it uncomfortable and more than a little depressing when a comic tries to make up for the inadequacy of their act by unceremoniously laying into the audience who aren’t laughing enough at his or her jokes. Issy Suttie

 However, this Friday sees one of the most gentle, loveable and cheerful comedians on the circuit, Issy Suttie, joining us at The Theatre. Star of Channel 4’s Peep Show, Suttie is both a brilliant comic and a talented musician.
