Have you always felt that there is something creative inside you that wishes to express itself?  Would you like to find a space and time to use your imagination?  Led by Roxanne Claxton, Director of Oxford Creative Practice, this six-week course seeks to unlock participants’ creativity through art forms such as writing, drama, movement, mixed media and art for public spaces. Led by actor, singer and teacher, Paula Stephens.  These sessions revolve around Peggotty the Hen who, each week, invites one of her friends to join in the fun. Their adventures open up a world of music, movement, puppetry and laughter for youngsters. Carers are asked to stay with their children.  Includes tea and coffee.

Themed classes and bold colourful props captivate the children and encourage everyone to get involved, whilst educational themes are introduced using well known nursery rhymes and action songs.  Come and join Peggotty the Hen and her puppet friends on the Orange Hat adventure.  Carers to stay with their children.

Our Youth Theatre develops the young people’s performance skills, creativity and imagination and has a proven track record of increasing their self confidence.

It also offers the members the chance to perform on The Theatre’s stage.

These weekly sessions concentrate on singing and dancing, offering young people a taste of musical theatre and a chance to work as a member of an ensemble. It helps them to develop performance techniques whilst also promoting confidence, commitment, communication and collaborative skills.

A Showcase is performed annually at The Theatre.

The sessions focus on a wide range of skills including drama exercises, breath and voice work, exploring plays, improvisation and characterisation.  Previous experience is not necessary – it is for those who enjoy drama and theatre but also for those who wish to come along to improve their self confidence.

This group aspires to keep participants fit and mobile but you wont be asked to achieve the impossible, just rekindle the joy of moving to music.  Led by qualified EXTEND tutor, these sessions are open to participants aged 50+ and will take place upstairs in The Theatre's Gallery.

This term’s sessions with playwright Alan Pollock will look at the elements of storytelling common to all forms of creative writing, from fiction and poetry to plays. Using examples, discussion and practical exercises the sessions will aim to stimulate the creativity of participants, who will then be encouraged to share their own work in a creative and supportive environment.
